Delete files on Samsung K3

You will not be able to delete the music files on your Samsung K3 player unlike the Apple Ipod and Creative Zen. It has to be done through the Samsung Media Studio. In addition, the text files and photos must also be delete through the Samsung Media Studio. There are no edit functions available on the Samsung K3 player except for browsing and playing purposes. Therefore, Samsung need to improve their firmware to allow us to have some basic edit functions, like delete and moving of files and creating playlist on the player itself.

Read text files on Samsung K3

You can read text files on your Samsung K3 MP3 player. It can display both chinese and english characters. Drag the text files from your computer into the TEXT folder on the Samsung K3 player which will appear as a removable disk on your file explorer. Do not place anywhere else as it will not recognize the text file.

Samsung K3 Firmware Updated

You can now upgrade your Samsung K3 player firmware to ver 4.06. This is the latest firmware by Samsung and the program will update the firmware for you. Three firmwares is available as it comes with the color of RED, LIME and BLUE. Only one firmware can be loaded to the Samsung K3. Please choose the YP-K3AB YP-K3 Firmware upgrade automatic program (ver.4.06). This is an executive file where it will upgrade the firmware automatically.

3. UI Color Variations
4. New Fonts Added

Please ensure you have at least two third of the battery power before upgrading the firmware.

Samsung has designed a microsite specially for its K3 series MP3 player. You can visit the site for more information on the K3 player. In addition, you can also download wallpaper and screen savers. Listen to the songs on the microsite as they are quite nice. I am a proud owner of a 2GB K3 Player.

Samsung Play List

The play list we used in Apple and Creative is defined as My Alblum for Samsung Media Studio. It is not as friendly as it seems when adding songs to the play list. You need to know some tricks to add songs to your album that you have created. The easiest method is to use Autoalbum to add songs to your playlist. It will automatic update songs to this playlist as long it contains the information that you have preset in the settings. The second method is to add the songs to Theme which act as a play list.  There are 5 preset themes for you to add your songs to the playlist. You just need to right click on the songs in My PC and select the theme you want. The third method is for album you created, you need to drag the songs from the My PC to the Theme you want on the My Album on the right hand side.

Samsung Yp-K3 MP3 Player

Today I will talk about the pro and cons of this music player. It sound system is good as it got 3D surrond sound. The menu is also easy to navigate with its touch screen function. You can also listen radio on the play. It also allows you to add text files to the player which you do not find this functions on other players. Some of the cons of this player is that you cannot add or delete songs and edit your play list. All these has to be done from the Samsung Media Studio. But Apple and Creative have the functions on its player without the need to access their media studio. This is a point Samsung can improve on its future player or through upgrade of firmware.

Samsung Media Studio

You can add individual music files or the whole folder to the music library. This software do not use the term playlist which is normally used by Apple and Creative. The term it use is My Album but it functions the same way a playlist do. In addition, you can add the music in the libary to a theme which also functions like a playlist. You can burn your music to a CD using this software and do not have to use 3 party software like Nero. It also allows you to add pictures to your Samsung YP-K3 but the quality of the photos is not so good on the player due to the technical limitations.
