Microsoft announced recently that it is raising the price of the XBox Live Gold subscription starting from 1st Nov 2010. According to a post on PC World, the usual US$49.99 yearly subscription fee will increase to US$59.99. The current quarterly fees of US$19.99 will increase, while monthly fees of US$7.99 will also increase. Microsoft is giving subscribers a chance to get one more year for US$39.99, this give subscriber a chance to save more than 30% off the new price.
This price hike only affect USA, UK, Mexico and Canada. It is easier for these countries to accept the fees hike. But Asia is spared from this price increase as Asia subscribers are price sensitive.
Meanwhile, the Playstation Network is letting everyone play online with each other without charging a single dollar. Nintendo Wii is also not charging subscribers for playing online.
